10 Best Preschools in Lahore


Preschools are gaining steady popularity in Pakistan since past decade. According to a survey by ACER, Preschool enrollment in Pakistan during 2018 rose substantially by 7.3% from 11.4 million in 2017 to 12.2 million in 2018. Overall, the preschool enrollment in Pakistan stands at 38% in 2019 with highest enrollment in Islamabad (62%) followed by Punjab (52%) and 50% in Azad Jammu Kashmir. There are more than 30 institutions currently offering preschool services in Lahore. We have created our own list of 10 best Preschools in Lahore based on the education philosophy, teachers’ credentials, campus facilities and social experiences. Combined with the details regarding admission requirements, locality and fee structure, the purpose is to ease the search process of new parents.

1. The Early Years – Beacon house School System

The Early Years (TEY) is a specialized Child development center initiated by Beacon house School System, one of the oldest and largest educational networks in Pakistan. The philosophy of TEY is based on freedom of children to think, create and discover. The preschool offers a variety of activities including Arts, Block play, free play, ICT, Little Chef, Excursions and Events, Music, Nature Walk, Sand and Water, Story Time, Theme Play and Yoga. TEY schools also requires active participation by parents in different activities. It is one of the most important factors in considering admissions in the preschool while rest of requirements pertaining to children are quite lenient as philosophy of BSS is known to be least biased compared to other high-end preschools in Pakistan. TEY offers 3 options regarding school timings with Morning (8 am to 2 pm), Afternoon (12 pm to 6 pm) and Full Day (8 am to 6 pm). The options are available to children of different ages based on their preferences as follows: 3 – 12 months: Infants (Full Day/ Morning/ Afternoon), 12 months – 2 years 4 months: Creche (Full Day/ Morning/ Afternoon), 2 years 4 months – up to 3 years: Bridge Classroom (Full Day/ Morning) and 3 years – 3 years and 8 months Bridge (Afternoon).

2. Nordic International School

Nordic International School (NIS) is owned and operated by Swedish school developer and operator NordicEd. NordicEd operates over 12 schools in Sweden and has collaborated with local partners in Pakistan for joint venture. The Preschool program of NIS offers classes for children of age 2-5 years with three stages of Early years; Play group (2-3 years), Nursery (3-4 years) and Kindergarten (4-5 years). NIS follows International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) with a philosophy of personal, social and emotional growth of children. The school offers a variety of activities including Language Development, Free play, Circle time, Physical activities, Creative Arts, Role Play, Sorting, Sand and Water play. With small class sizes, NIS has a reputation for providing personalized attention for every child. Each class has a Teacher, a Teaching Assistant and Classroom Support Assistant. NIS also brings together teachers from around the globe with international education experience. The school timing for Playgroup is 9 am to 12 pm while for Nursery and KG is 8 am to 12 pm.

3. Lahore Pre-School

Lahore Pre-School is one of the well-reputed schools that has quickly moved to the list of top preschools and primary schools in Lahore. LPS offers an activity-based learning curriculum with dynamic and non-competitive environment. LPS offers variety of activities including swimming, baby yoga, aerobics, field trips, music, ICT, Interactive smart board activities, activity rooms, custom designed fully equipped kitchens, outdoor gyms and Montessori lessons. LPS has 6 levels of preschool from playgroup to preparatory level depending on age of child. The sessions include Playgroup (2 – 2.5 years), Reception I (2.5 – 3 years), Reception II (3 – 3.5 years), Montessori I (3.5 – 4 years) and Montessori II (4 – 4.5 years) and Preparatory (4.5 – 5.5 years). Admission criteria in LPS is a bit strict than other schools as Child is assessed based on interview and formal assessment as well as parents’ interview. 4. Kids Kampus

Kids Kampus has been offering Preschool services in Lahore since 1974 and is affiliated with NAEYC (US National Association for early childhood education). The school has an internally built curriculum and education system that combines national and international teaching methods. The curriculum includes Arts and Crafts, ICT, Swimming, Music, Smart boards, Physical activity, Play time, Dramatic plays, Language development, Social skills and Sensory exploration. The campus offers 4 levels of preschool education: Toddlers (2 – 3 years), Playgroup (3 – 3.5 years), Nursery (3.5 – 4 years) and Pre-Kindergarten (4 – 4.5 years). 5. School for Contemporary and Islamic Learning

Different from an Islamic school, SCIL is a contemporary preschool that offers dynamic and upgraded curriculum for young kids. With around 6 campuses around the city, SCIL has established a great repute among its competitors in education arena. SCIL’s education system is based on nurturing children morally, intellectually, socially and aesthetically. The schooling system for preschool is based on international practices with continuous improvements in learning activities based on children’s interests, motivation and curiosity. Floppy phonics, arts and crafts, basic mathematics, audio and visual classes, ICT, story and drama classes, sensory activities, problem solving and physical exercises are some of the core activities at SCIL. Arabic as a language is not offered until Grade I and similarly, Quranic references and Hadeeths are part of curriculum in older grades. Olive Tree Montessori and Pre-School (OTM) is a London based preschool that has branches in various parts of the world. The curriculum is designed on inquiry-based approach to explore intellectual levels of children. The thematic classrooms are designed to offer rich spaces, materials and activities.     Can you please confirm if the Fees you have mentioned for “The Learning Yard” is indeed Rs 11,00 and not Rs 11,000?
