HEC approves rupees 100 million for the construction of the National Laboratory of Remote Sensing, GIS, and Climate Research at the Punjab University.Dr. Ziaul Haq, a member of the Department of Space Science at the Punjab University, will be directing the laboratory as its principal investigator. Dr. Salman Tariq, Dr. Syeda Batool, Shahid Parvez, Dr. Khalid Mahmoon, and Asim Rana will be the co-principle investigators at the laboratory.According to the principal investigator, the country is vulnerable to climate change and lacks the financial and technical tools to retaliate its effects.The laboratory aims to offer cheap alternatives through satellite information with effective GIS analytics to reduce the negative consequences of climate change.
